Arsenal – The Official Newsletter
The last seven days at Emirates Stadium
On the pitch On the pitch… Arsenal kicked off their Premier League campaign in spectacular fashion, hitting Everton for six at Goodison Park on Saturday. Denilson started the rout in the 26th minute before Thomas Vermaelen and William Gallas both found the net before half-time. Cesc Fabregas grabbed a superb second-half brace before Eduardo marked his first Premier League appearance for over 18 months with a last-minute strike. Extended highlights from the clash are available to Arsenal TV Online subscribers now.
Off the pitch Off the pitch… Arsène Wenger has once again responded to stories linking Cesc Fabregas with a move away from the Club. At his pre-Everton press conference the manager said: "Cesc is committed to the Club. He has told me that and told that to the press. We cannot master the noises coming out of Spain. We are not in a weak financial position, we don't need to sell anybody." Elsewhere The Arsenal Ladies drew Greek side PAOK in the Round of 32 of the Uefa Women's Champions League.
'We have gone from being ruled out by everybody, to becoming a super favourite'
Arsene Wenger

Arsène Wenger believes Arsenal's emphatic opening-day victory has shifted their position in the 2009/10 title race. As ever, the Gunners will battle for top-spot with Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool with Aston Villa and Manchester city also ready to challenge. But the manager thinks his side made a point with their 6-1 win. "We have gone from being ruled out by everybody, to now becoming a super favourite," he said. "I think these two extremes are good. It was an interesting first game and we want to show that we have the squad to challenge."
