Arsenal – The Official Newsletter
The last seven days at Emirates Stadium
On the pitch On the pitch… Arsenal had a half-time lead away at West Ham after Robin van Persie tapped home a Bacary Sagna cross and William Gallas headed in from the Dutchman's corner. However, the Hammers fought back in the second half to earn a point. Carlton Cole volleyed in from close range in the 74th minute before Alessandro Diamanti equalised from the penalty spot to see the game finish level at 2-2.
Off the pitch Off the pitch… Arsène Wenger celebrated his 60th birthday on the same day as the Club's AGM. The Armoury Square project was launched allowing fans to purchase and personalise a stone to be placed around benches dedicated to Arsenal legends outside Emirates Stadium. Members of Arsenal supporters group REDaction pushed a bed from Emirates to Upton Park to raise money for Arsenal's Charity of the Season, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's charity.
Wenger: 'We will concede fewer goals this season'
Arsene Wenger

Arsène Wenger expects Arsenal's defensive improvement to be clear by the end of the season. "We conceded too many goals last year and we decided to rectify our defence and the system we play," he said. "I believe that by the end of this season we will have conceded less goals."

'I find it amazing how Arsenal are always written off'
Arshavin

Thor Arnarsson emailed the MatchDay Show during our coverage of the West Ham game to explain why he thinks people were wrong to discount Arsenal from Premier League contention at the start of the season. "This squad is fantastic when looking at the attacking players available and there are few teams with this much variety," he said. "I find it quite amazing how we are always written off at the start of the season despite showing time and again that we will fight right up there."
